#352 - Not interested..
Last week, I was offered a spot to apply for an award and honestly I wasn’t interested.
Thinking back to a couple of years ago, I was so engrossed in applying for awards, gaining recognition for my work etc.
I got a few recognitions, I won a few awards and then what?
The world tells us to acquire all these things and we all bust a gut trying to get this, gain that, win this, acquire that etc.
Personally, I found that I won a few of all those awards, and later realised it added nothing to me.
It was a temporary boost of confidence and then it all fizzled out.
Reminds me of the quote by the popular, very famous Jim Carrey which says:
“I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it's not the answer.”
Feel free to seek out recognitions/awards, feel free to bend over backwards to get to the top of your career, feel free to do whatever you think will bring you satisfaction.
But remember this; the feeling you’ll get or the satisfaction you’ll enjoy may only bring you a temporal bout of happiness.
When you get to this point, one of two things will happen.
You’ll either find yourself back on the treadmill continually chasing the next big thing or perhaps, like me, realise it’s not worth it at all….
